The below resources are our most tried and true recommendations. They are what we have used personally and come to trust.

One of our favorite things to do is to learn ways to be more productive. If we can learn how to shave a few minutes off of a task we do several times a day, the time savings over a month or a year is significant!

This is a must have resource for any blogger! The online photo editing app is powerful, yet easy enough for even a beginner to use. PicMonkey offers a free and paid version of their service. We highly recommend making the investment in the paid version. The additional features, including fonts, graphics and holiday-themed add-on's cannot be beat. Sign up for PickMonkey here.

The Genesis Framework empowers you to quickly and easily build incredible websites with WordPress. Whether you're a novice or advanced developer, Genesis provides the secure and search-engine-optimized foundation that takes WordPress to places you never thought it could go. Buy the Genesis framework here.

Visual Blogging Board

Along with the Blog More, Work Less planning worksheets and editorial calendar, we use a visual blogging board to keep notes handy and deadlines in plain sight.

We use Dropbox to backup all of our files. It runs silently in the background on a computer and phone. Should you ever have a hardware failure, Dropbox will allow you to recover your work without missing a beat or having to manually run backups. Dropbox has a free account – signup here.

Lastpass (or a similar password manager) is a lifesaver for a busy blogger. You want your passwords to be secure, but who can remember all those encrypted passwords? And who has time to look them up to login to all those different accounts? Lastpass stores your passwords for you in an encrypted vault and enters them when you want to login with the click of a button. Signup for Lastpass here.

RescueTime tracks how and where we spend time on the computer. It tells us how productive we are and allows us to set goals for tasks like writing, photo editing, etc. You'll love getting an email from RescueTime every week and seeing how many hours you worked (and how many of them were “productive”). RescueTime has a free account – signup here.

Open Office

Having Microsoft Office is a bit like breathing. You simply must have in order to operate efficiently. Open Office to the rescue! Open Office is almost identical to MS Office. It's free software that you can download here.

Stock Photos

We used to spend hours trying to find nice photos for blog posts, but once we started using stock photos, we never looked back. You can find a great list of sites to source free stock images here.
